The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future, by developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity BCI is the most widespread cotton sustainability programme in the world. The Better Cotton Standard is a holistic approach to more sustainable cotton produc tion . BCI licensed farmers produce cotton in a way that cares for the env ironment by minimising the negative effects of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, caring for water, soil health and natural habitats. BCI farmers also commit to decent work principles conditions that support workers’ safety and wellbeing.
